Can you imagine printing yourself some skin? There has been news from the web that household printers could produce skin grafts, which are used for burn victims.

Don’t throw away that old printer yet because there’s still more use to it than just printing out documents, pictures, etc. Printers are now being developed to hopefully churn out skin grafts.

The concept came from culturing cells from a donor and placing those in an ink. Then, recreating a live implant derived from the donor’s cells. There is, however, a problem because there are still very limited cells that could deal with being printed.

Further developments on this discovery are in still progress to better use ink in providing burn victims skin graft.
